Our Bodies, Ourselves

Dear Parents,

This week we worked on our body tracings. On Tuesday everyone took turns lying on a piece of mural paper and being traced. Many gathered around to watch and wait their turn. We counted legs and arms as we traced.

On Wednesday everyone used crayons to color their bodies.

On Thursday we watercolored our body tracings. Some friends painted and colored their whole bodies, some focused on one arm or leg, but all our bodies were colorful.

On Friday we glued pieces of fabric to our body tracings. Some children placed fabrics in a pattern, while others glued pieces randomly. After reading We Are Alike, We Are Different, we looked in our mind's eye and thought about how our body tracings were alike and different.

We read On The Day That You Were Born and noticed similar body shadows in the book. The children said they looked like our body tracings.

We also read I Wish You More, Time To Pee, and  Bodies Are Cool!

We sang Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes during circle. We played in the yard in the brisk weather.

We are all working on zipping zippers.

Have a proper fall weekend,

Therese
