Dear Parents,
We made a list of things we can do with our hands. The children said: paint, comb our hair, draw a rainbow, eat breakfast, wave hello, clap, make fishies and sharks, swing, throw garbage away, use hair clips, and one friend told us they have a bear named Charlie Bear.
We read These Are My Hands, All By Myself, Babies, Babies, Babies, and A, B, C.
Everyone chose a colored folder to use in which to store their art. We used white paint and everyone stamped the first letter of their name onto their folders. The folders look alphabetized.
On Wednesday we made textured collages. We read My Five Senses and then used our sense of touch to feel bumpy and scratchy fabrics. Afterwards, we glued those, and more, to blue paper.
We also used our sense of touch to feel something in the Feely Box. Everyone had a turn to reach in and feel. The children guessed: a magnet, a letter, something hard, a dinosaur, something spikey, and a few children just shrugged their shoulders.
On Friday we began our day in the yard running, swinging, and chatting with our friends. We read 1,2,3 To The Zoo and All I Am, and talked about our 5 senses. We used our sense of listening to hear the story and our sense of sight to look at the pictures. We took turns guessing what was in the Feely Box again, using our sense of touch. We held hands in a circle and sang Ring Around The Rosie, just for fun.
